| I am a visual artist based in Iowa City, Iowa. Born and raised on a farm in Jackson County, Iowa, I began an early career as a portrait photographer in Bellevue, Iowa. I received my MFA in Intermedia at the University of Iowa in 1998. Currently I work as a freelance photographer and am a Lecturer in the Art and Art History Department at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. I was chosen as the Iowa Photographer for Stuart PIlkington's 50 States Project in 2009. The University of Iowa Press published my first book of B/W photographs (2007) - Down to the River; Portraits of Iowa Musicians. I have copies available ($30 + shipping) and will personally sign a book and send it to you or as a gift to your friend. Currently I am working on two photo projects. Heaven & Earth, a large photo installation) is inspired from observing the Iowa landscape, people and environments. Lost in the Midwest is a growing collection of portraits. This project is about the unknown. It is about finding oneself and at the same time becoming comfortable with losing oneself. If you are interested in becoming part of this project - email or call me! I LOVE meeting people, getting to know them and photographing them! Please contact me if you are interested in any type of freelance work, especially portraiture. I welcome magazines, business, families, children, babies, seniors and anyone who wants strong photographic work. I am also interested in shooting photographs for business and/or personal websites.
