Bio

Bio
I am a visual artist based in Iowa City, Iowa. Born and raised on a farm in Jackson County, Iowa, I began an early career as a portrait photographer in Bellevue, Iowa. I received my MFA in Intermedia at the University of Iowa in 1998. Currently I work as a freelance photographer and am a Lecturer in the Art and Art History Department at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

I was chosen as the Iowa Photographer for Stuart PIlkington's 50 States Project in 2009.

The University of Iowa Press published my first book of B/W photographs (2007) - Down to the River; Portraits of Iowa Musicians. I have copies available ($30 + shipping) and will personally sign a book and send it to you or as a gift to your friend.

Currently I am working on two photo projects. Heaven & Earth, a large photo installation) is inspired from observing the Iowa landscape, people and environments. Lost in the Midwest is a growing collection of portraits. If you are interested in becoming part of this project - email or call me!
