Lost Nation Series: Czech Republic

In October of 2002, I spent three weeks photographing in the Czech Republic, primarily in Prague. My interest in the people and culture of the Czech Republic stems from a variety of reasons; one of which is the influence of Czechoslovakian communities in eastern Iowa. My daughters are both one-fourth Czech and consequently I was drawn into this community quite naturally.

My photographs are simultaneously documentary and poetic. These photographs are found moments in time. Lost Nation is not a particular location or a specific country. It is a metaphor for the human condition.
